V.D.A. van der Wel, M.Sc.

Victor
van der Wel

PhD candidate in econometrics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I work on econometric theory — time series and panel data — with current projects on generalized error-rate control in ex-post testing and dynamic spatial spillovers in high-dimensional networks.

About

Victor van der Wel

I am a PhD candidate in Econometrics at the Department of Econometrics and Data Science (EDS) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Tinbergen Institure, supervised by dr. Hande Karabıyık and dr. Paolo Gorgi. My research interests are econometric theory, financial econometrics, and climate econometrics.

Before the PhD, I combined quantitative training with editorial and political work. As an editor at Economische Statistische Berichten (ESB), the Dutch journal on economic policy, I guided articles from submission to publication — my chief task being to help authors convey their message as clearly as possible. Earlier, I managed a municipal election campaign and served as editor-in-chief of an election manifesto.
